Dinner at Holtie's Place
Lee at “Kitchen Connection” often posts photos of
meals she has prepared along with the recipes.
I’m not trying to outdo any of Lee’s (as I wouldn’t
even come close) to her excellent posts, but during
my visit to Peter’s place from “Holtie’s House” I
thought I’d do a post on one of the dinners we had
during this fun filled week-end.
Peter enjoying the Pea and Ham Soup.
First course:-
Pea and Ham Soup.
Ham Hock
1 pkt yellow split peas
Chopped Onion and carrot
Bacon Pieces
Throw all into a slow cooker and simmer over
a 6 to 7 hour period.
Main Course
Porterhouse Steak cooked over a slow grill.
Large field mushrooms cooked in white wine.
Steamed vegetables for Wazza (cauliflower,
brussel spouts, carrots and broccoli).
Coleslaw and potato salad (for Peter).
Wazza’s meal.....................................Peter's meal.
Dessert
Sliced bananas and boysenberry ice cream.
..........Yummy Boysenberry Ice Cream.
All this was enjoyed with a bottle of Wolf Blass 2005 Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon
Prior to our evening meal we were treated to a magnificent sunset.
I hadn't seen Peter since his return from the west coast of
Australia after he had gone over there for a wedding, so it
was great to catch up with him. I was there from Saturday
until Tuesday and our days consisted of lots of talk, much
laughter, a few bottles of red wine and the odd bit of
computer operating. Our evening, waal really mornings
normally did finish until 2 to 3am.
........................................the LOOK.
After the umpteen time of my interrupting Peter from
preparing his next post, Peter would turn around and give
me the look. Click the photo to see what this really looks like.
Pretty scary, so I'd shut-up (oh for maybe all of two minutes)
before I would say "hava look at this" and then get the look again.

Sounds like you two had a great time. The food sounds scrumptious. I haven't ever made pea and ham soup ... might have to try it !!
Have a wonderful weekend.
Take care, Meow
Hi Warren ~~ Good post - the food looks good and the photos. I don't much care for " the look" having seen it a few times.
BTW It was Peter who suggested I use a ham hock for pea and ham soup. Before that I used Bacon bones, not
much meat on them.I made a crockpot
full of it today. Glad you both had a good time.
Take care, Cheers, Merle.
Hmmmm, not just a pretty face, are you, Warren?
As for that Peter...what a snarl! Grrrr!
Glad you two had such an enjoyable time, though...how's Gympie since the "Disaster", have you heard?

I'm glad you and Peter had a good time. I have been a little missing, I'll bet you're about back home by now again.
That's the Red Label stuff too. Good choice.
And Peter's look. I'm sure you asked that ham to put on this perturbated look!
