My Sister, Denise, Australia Day Honours

I have posted before on my sister Denise, who has become quite a well
known painter throughout Australia, The USA and Europe.
Today, Australia Day, January 26th 2007, Denise was awarded in
the Australia Day Honours with the Service to the Arts.

The notice that appeared in today's paper announcing Denise's award.

Australia honouring Australians

Australia Day Honours

Name: GREEN, Denise

Award: Member of the Order of Australia

Date granted: 26 January 2007

Citation: For service to the arts, particularly as an abstract painter and as an author, and through the promotion of Australian art and artists internationally.

Some of Denise's work hanging in a art gallery on the Gold Coast.

More of Denise's art ready to be hung in the Art Gallery on the Gold Coast.

A early photo of my sister, with my father and mother in Sydney just prior
to Denise leaving Australia to travel overseas by ship to start her career in
the arts.

Denise ready to board the P & O Vessel "Oronsay" which was to take her
to England and her new career.

Denise had started work in a motor vehicle insurance company called "Club
Motor Insurance of Australia" and strangely enough on the 1st floor of the
building where I was working on the ground floor in a shipping company.
She worked as a typist and it was during this time that she became more interested
in art, and my father supported her by encouraging her to take art classes.

Overlooking the Sydney Opera House on board the "Oronsay".

Blogger "Wazza" with his sister Denise on board the "Oronsay" prior to her
departure with the Sydney Harbour Bridge in the background.

....................A more recent photo of Wazza and Denise.

Denise and her husband Dr. Frank Claps on their wedding day in New York.

Denise at the opening of one of her Art Exhibitions in Poland.

The Green "tribe" Denise, Warren, Mum, Bob (Robert), Wendy and Marilyn.

Our mother, Gladys, who is no longer with us, would of been as "proud as
punch" knowing about Denise's Australia's Day Honour and our father who
passed away in 1969 would of been so happy to see what has grown from his
encouragement that started so long ago..
All our family are extremely proud of the honour that has been bestowed on
Denise and I for one who have watched her slow but triumph road to success
could be no less proud whether Denise had received this award or not.
Good on you Denise, "Happy Australia Day"
We will be waiting to see you in April when you will be back in Australia to
received your Member of the Order of Australia award.

How wonderful, Wazza...you must be very proud of Denise and she must be very proud of herself. What a terrific achievement.

You and Peter behave yourself this weekend...don't do anything I would do! ;)

I may still be away when Denise is here in April Wazza, but if she is interested in the contract for painting my lounge room let me know.

Hi Warren, welcome back.
Here is another congratulations for your sister, Denise. We all are proud of her but can never be as proud as is her brother.
I'm glad too that Wendy reads your blog. My sister reads mine but doesn't leave comments. That is too technical for her. Sometimes I paste them in for her from an e-mail.
Do you have any of Denise' paintings or prinst?
