Melbourne Cup Day, 1st Tuesday in November.
Waal, Melbourne Cup Day has been and gone. A number of other bloggers
have posted about the cup, namely Peter, Merle and Lee., and Lee has written
a post on a Melbourne Cup that was held on Hinchinbrook Island, where she
was working.
Two years ago I suggested to the management and staff where I worked that
for Melbourne Cup Day we should all get dressed up. So here's some of the
photos I took that day. I thought it would be fun to spread these photos around.
I'm sure the 'gang' at work will be 'pleased' to see their efforts on my blog.
............................Sue, the Warehouse Manager.
Now there's a fashion (!) hat you wouldn't see at the Melbourne Cup.
Dan (Mr. Suave) who won the Best Dressed Prize.
I still think it was rigged by Mr. Suave as I thought I should of won.
(Gee no sour grapes there I'm sure).
.................Ron (the crim) and the sore loser, Wazza.
........................................Gloria and Mr Suave.
.....................................Paula, Sue and Gloria.
Gloria received a certificate for "the most suitable outfit for the races".
.............................................Wazza and Paula.
All the gang who participated in the Melbourne Cup Dress Up Day.

Hi Warren, it seems as though you all have a good bit of fun at your workplace, nice to see. I think you should have won also, I think a toff should beat a suave anyday!!
Friends of mine said recently they were invited to a theme party at one of the city hotels, had to walk through the foyer, up and beyond in all their glory, only to find that they and one other were the only ones to "dress up", as effie would say "How embarrassment".
Cheers Margaret
And a jolly good lookin' bunch of yobbo's... Ooops (wish I could do that strikeout thing) I mean workplace buddies they are too.
A magnificent band of troubadours, villians or escapees...that's for sure! ;)
Melbourne Cup Day should always be enjoyed to the utmost!
Great outfits. Looks like a fun place to work.
Have a great weekend.
Take care, Meow
That Dan (Mr. Suave) wouldn not have won the 'best dressed' award if you hadn't loaned him your hat.
Looks like all had fun! And a good excuse to party.
..
Hey I think my horse came in about the same time as your post!!!!!!!
I have a friend in Melbourne. Those are some wicked hats. Saw your site via 25 peeps.
Wazza ~ Sue's hat should win some sort of DESIGN prize! Good LUCK! ~ jb///
